Doesn't the Bible predict that obesity would be part of the Sign of the Last Days?

by Bob_NC inthat's right, millions now living are living during the best of times for humanity.
but aren't these critical times hard to deal with?

Letter to BOE: Adjustment in process for appointing elders and ministerial servants

As long as WT policy continues to be that the elders are to call the Legal Department at the local branch office FIRST when they hear of any child abuse, WT will continue to be held responsible for protecting pedos. It doesn't matter who does the appointing when it's WT Legal Dept that's so obviously pulling the strings.
Back in the day they claimed elders to be SPIRIT APPOINTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Indeed. There is no mention of holy spirit in this letter.
It's been years since I was in Bethel. So my frame of reference on the thinking of Writing/Service Departments is outdated with all the changes. In my estimation, there must be a reason that it was announced to the entire congregation rather than just sending a letter to the BOE changing the procedure. I'm wondering if this is a response to the study articles back in January that promoted the elders as "Jesus on earth". I wouldn't be surprised if WT got swamped with letters asking, "How did Br. Dipsh!t get appointed by the GB? He was arrested for beating his wife, so don't tell me that I should trust him as a shepherd."
The brevity of this letter with "article to follow" seems like a knee-jerk reaction. The reason "we're doing it like the scriptures" is bizarre, because their reason for doing it the old way was because the technology to check with the GB and have a "spirit appointed" response in a couple of weeks wasn't possible in the 1st century. So why are they dumping the technology for the GB to "prayerfully review each recommendation"? Two things come to my mind:
1) Reducing paperwork for Service Department. Saves postage and a few bethelites with rubber stamps.
2) Less blame for the branch and GB when Br. Dipsh!t gets appointed. You can't blame the GB's lack of holy spirit when it's just the CO that does the appointing. And the COs will continue to get rotated so they only have a limited amount of blame before they get a fresh start.
I just wonder what kind of mail they get at WT these days. Back when I was in Bethel, I knew that they were continually swamped with letters that they took months/years to respond to. Since they've already said, "please stop writing to the branch" it must have gotten a lot worse.
...of course, it doesn't help when people like me keep writing letters to the branch using other peoples' names and addresses.

The Governing Body told two Elders to call !!!!
by Phizzy ina friend from the other end of the country just 'phoned and told me that a couple of days ago two elders knocked on his door.
he has been out for four or more years.. they told him it was c.o's visit, and the governing body have asked them to call on those whom they no longer see at the k.hall.. i guess this is an easier "field" than knocking on doors that never open, or where they are told "not interested".. my friend bill though, was not such an easy call.
apparently he managed to get in about 1914 being rubbish, the bible not being the word of god, because we cannot trust it, 1919 being rubbish as to the choosing of the fds and several other telling points.. i liked particularly that he said to them they were rather hypocritical asking householders to examine their faith, when jw's were simply not allowed to !.

Pffft. The elders looking to bring back the lost sheep? Frankly, I think the JWs are the lost sheep.
We've finally found the light and reality. We're living lives and thinking like humans, no longer the helpless sheep we used to be. The elders are trying to drag us back into the darkness and confusion as helpless sheep in their Watchtowerland.

You can't expect JWs to think freely, express things honestly, or show logic or reason. JWs live in a world of information and thought control. The only questions they are allowed to ask are printed at the bottom of the page of WT publications. Any answer provided in the WT publication is the only acceptable answer. Any thoughts that stray from the current teachings of WT are Satanic lies. To deviate from the confines of WT thinking would result in destruction at Armageddon... very soon now.

Meeting Today
by lambsbottom inme and the spouse looked over the wt and decided it wouldn't be in our best spiritual interest to stay for the wt (we usually don't anymore).. so, took the kids to the public talk (was actually great, nice brother), took them outside for a snack and snuggled/played...and then left (an hour early).. .
felt great!
gotta do what you know is best for you spiritually!

Riley, "My siblings response was "Where will we go?""
That's the WT brainwashing kicking in. The scriptural question is "Who?" and the answer is "Jesus". One of the best responses I've read on here is: "If your house is on fire and you're standing in the doorway, will you stop to ask "But where will I go?" Would you explain to the firemen that you can't leave the burning building until you have a new house ready to move into? No indeed! Get out of the burning house! You can find plenty of non-burning buildings to move into once you get out.
...just don't move into another building that is already engulfed in flames.

saul, I see that you're back to play the judge of everyone. Clearly you've learned nothing during the past week.
"I’m an advent Crusader, last remnants of the Knights Templar, and an Ex-Witness."
Lovely. Then you realize that you are an apostate and all JWs will shun you, never reading a word you write on this forum or any other. Since you can't go try to mislead current JWs with your self-aggrandizing, you've come here to try to mislead those of us who've opened our eyes to TTATT. Do you really think we've chosen to leave the cult of WT to join the cult of sauloftarsus?
And you understand that Watchtower is promising that very soon rocks will fall from the sky on your head and birds will peck your eyeballs out of the sockets because you have apostatized from the Jehovah's Witnesses to join the Knights Templar. And since you're a knight, your armor and horse won't be able to protect you when the Governing Body tells Jesus that you must die!
By all means continue defending the teachings of how JWs believe that you are now a servant of Satan and deserving of permanent destruction. Since you've chosen to agree with JWs, you realize that the only future you look forward to is death at armageddon... very soon now.
In light of the fact that in your post #13, you defend the practice of shunning, I, as a baptized JW who is neither disfellowshipped nor disassociated, have no choice but to shun you. In fact, DFd JWs are expected to also shun apostates like you. This really is for your own good. Consequently, if you post on my threads in the future, your behavior will be in violation of WT policy and you are an evil apostate clearly trying to mislead us to join your religion! You may silently sit in the back row until such a time as you are judged repentant by a JWN judicial committee.

Homosexuality, the GB and the Bible
by Oubliette inthe recent topics addressing the shamefully bigoted talk by jw gb member, anthony morris, on the subject of homosexuality got me thinking.
what the heck is up with the gb's obsession with this subject?.
as far as i can determine, jesus never said a single thing in reference to homosexuality.

Maybe he's taking over where George Couch ended. During his morning worship comments George often spoke about the dangers of young brothers wrestling in their underwear or roommates giving each other backrubs. He had much to say about the dangers of going to clubs in the Village, looking at bras and underwear in the J.C.Penney catalog, etc.
I have to admit that the way George would talk about many of these subjects was rather entertaining. We'd actually pay close attention so that we could joke about it for years afterward. I never found Tony da Turd entertaining or educational. I can only give him credit for helping to wake me up to the fact that it's all a cult led by idiots.
